Kirk L. Menard, age 66, of Augusta, Maine died Friday, March 22, 2019, at Central Maine Medical Center following a brief illness. 

He was born in Hartford, Connecticut, September 1, 1952, a son of the late Paul L. Menard and Jeannette R. (Capen) Menard. 

Kirk was an accomplished athlete in baseball and hockey. He played hockey in high school and college and played in a baseball league with his brother-in-law, Kip Paules. He attended Brunswick High School and earned his Master’s degree in 1974 from Norwich University in Vermont. He had been employed by Maple Grove Farms of Vermont and previously worked for Pejepscot Paper Company, C-E Bauer, Weyerhauser and RockTenn. 

He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed the solitude of living in the mountains of New Hampshire and Virginia. Kirk enjoyed retirement with his wife Sheila and spending time with his brother-in-law, Cliff Paules, watching hockey games and computer gaming. 

In addition to his parents, Paul and Jeannette Menard, he was predeceased by his sister, Bernadette (Menard) Bernier. 

Kirk is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sheila (Paules) Menard of Augusta, Maine, his son Jason Menard and granddaughter Charlotte Menard of Deerfield, New Hampshire; his brothers Eugene Menard of St. Augustine, Florida, William Menard of Oviedo, Florida, and his sister Catherine (Menard) Dyer of Brunswick, Maine, and many nieces and nephews. 

At his request, there will be no public visiting hours or funeral service.
