From the Journal Tribune: “A powerful storm battered communities statewide Wednesday, leaving more than 60,000 homes and businesses without power. York County experienced heavy rain, waves reaching 17 feet and water pouring over seawalls in several coastal towns at high tide. Central Maine Power crews worked throughout the night to restore power and an estimated 26,000 homes were still without power Thursday morning, though none in York County.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A meeting of the Women’s Home and Foreign Mission Society of the Advent Christian Church was held at Fellowship Hall with 18 members and one visitor present. President Mrs. Spencer Andrews presided at the business meeting when it was voted to hold a summer fair.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “There are quite a number of subscribers to the Saco shoe factory who have not paid their subscriptions. It is very important they should call on the treasurer, Phillip S. Towle, at D. D. Littlefields store and pay what is (owed) and receive their certificate. Several bills will shortly come in for lumber and payments on the new contracts for heating, plumbing, elevators, etc. and must be promptly met.”
