Second-ranked John Bapst (16-3) used slow-down tactics in beating No. 10 Hermon (11-9) for the third time this season in an Eastern Class B girls’ basketball quarterfinal at the Bangor Auditorium.

Riley Boyle and Abby Pyne each scored nine points for John Bapst, which held the ball for most of the second and third quarters after building an early lead. The Crusaders led 11-4 at halftime and 17-4 after three quarters.
