SANFORD — Gregory Walcott, 67, son of Clifford and Marilyn, passed away on Jan. 27, 2018 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
At his side were his wife Donna (Goodwin), daughter Heidi and her partner Craig, and close friends.
Born in Westboro, Massachusetts, Greg made Maine his home after returning from Vietnam where he served in the armed forces. His happiest times were spent at the beach with his family, and with his beloved dog Snowflake.
A driving force in Greg’s life was the desire to help other people. He did this by spending his retirement years volunteering at York County Community Center, WAVE, and as an active member the York County Democratic Committee.
Greg also leaves behind his brother Steven and wife Susan, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.
A memorial gift can be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Scarborough Maine.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
