SACO — Saco residents, got a question about city government? Saturday morning is your time to get an answer.

Ward 5 City Councilor Alan Minthorn is hosting “Coffee with Constituents” at The Rugged Spruce coffee shop, 209 Main St., at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Minthorn has invited other members of the City Council as well as the school board to join him Saturday morning at the coffee shop to listen to constituents. On Wednesday he said six of the seven city councilors had confirmed they were going as well as one school board member.

He said in 2016 the city hosted a series of community meetings, with mixed success. A neighborhood meeting in Camp Ellis drew a large crowd, while only a couple of people attended one at Saco Middle School.

Minthorn said city councilors hear a lot of constituent concerns when they’re out campaigning, but don’t hear as many after the election is over.

“This is another attempt to get people out and give us their two cents,” said Minthorn.

Minthorn said few people attend City Council meetings, and he would like to hear from more than the “vocal minority,” not only to address concerns, but to help shape the council’s vision for the city’s future.

“We’re all ears,” he said.

Minthorn said he hopes to host more such events in the future, and possibly move the event to city hall.
