SOUTH BERWICK — Matthew Crosby scored 13 of his 19 points in the first quarter Friday night and Marshwood went on to a 57-50 victory against Sanford in a Southern Maine Activities Association schoolboy basketball game.
Jack Verrill added 13 points and Addison Casey helped with 12 rebounds for Marshwood (6-3), which led 17-14 after the first quarter, then broke the game open in the second, using a 21-11 run to open a 38-25 halftime lead against the Redskins (1-8).
BRUNSWICK 53, OXFORD HILLS 42: The Dragons (6-4) had four players in double figures against the Vikings (3-8) at South Paris.
Alex Ouellette and Mitchell Black each scored 14 points, Ouellette grabbed 13 rebounds and Black had seven assists. Garrett Erb added 13 points and Trent Anderson scored 10.
Deric Hanscom led Oxford Hills with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
After being outscored 17-9 in the opening quarter, the Vikings tied it in the second before the Dragons hit four 3-pointers to gain a 29-19 halftime lead.
BOOTHBAY REGION 63, MONMOUTH ACADEMY 53: Dan Dickinson scored 18 of his 21 points in the second half as the Seahawks (8-2) pulled away from the Mustangs (7-3) at Boothbay Harbor.
Boothbay used a 21-13 third-quarter run to take a 43-35 lead, then shot 12 of 15 from the line in the fourth. Dickinson was 8 of 8 in the quarter and finished with six steals.
Chad Carroll added 14 points and nine rebounds for the Seahawks.
Tim Whitmore scored 19 points and Roger Bachelder 17 for Monmouth.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 47, WINSLOW 40: John Murray paced Medomak Valley (8-3) with 12 points against the Black Raiders (8-2) at Winslow.
After Medomak opened with a 17-6 run, Winslow rallied to take a one-point lead in the fourth quarter. But Deering Genthner passed inside to Murray, who gave Medomak the lead for good with just under three minutes left.
Mike McCann and Brandon Labrie led Winslow with 12 points each.
LINCOLN ACADEMY 56, WATERVILLE 40: Steven Quinlan scored eight of his 17 points in the second period as the Eagles (6-5) opened a 27-17 halftime lead against Waterville (1-9) at Newcastle.
Quinlan added seven in the third quarter as Lincoln widened the lead to 44-23.
Brandon Reilly added 11 points for Lincoln, including seven in the third. Max Brown led the Panthers with 17 points.
RICHMOND 48, VINALHAVEN 40: Tom Carter scored 16 point for the Bobcats (6-1), who built a 19-point lead and held off Vinalhaven at Richmond.
Michael Christie added 13 points and Wade Tuttle 10 for Richmond. Brian Stanley scored 16 points and Bobby Beckman 12 for the Vikings.
GOULD ACADEMY 42, HYDE 27: Abe Bartlett scored 18 points for Gould Academy (3-3), which took an 18-6 halftime lead and downed Hyde (1-4) at Bath.
Will MacMillan led Hyde with 13 points.
MT. ARARAT 52, MORSE 30: Luke Liedman and Josh Wright combined for 23 points for the Eagles (6-4), who took a 26-11 halftime lead against the Shipbuilders (0-10) at Topsham.
Everett Moye scored 16 points for Morse.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
MEDOMAK VALLEY 40, WINSLOW 39: Alanna Vose hit a free throw with three-tenths of a second remaining to lift the Panthers (11-0) over the Black Raiders (7-3) at Waldoboro.
Vose finished with 14 points and six steals. She hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give Medomak a 24-16 halftime lead, but Winslow chipped away and finally tied it on a 3-pointer by Mariah Chenard (17 points) with seven seconds left.
Lindsay Ranquist added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Panthers.
BRUNSWICK 48, OXFORD HILLS 30: Becky Champagne had 13 points and four steals as the Dragons (6-4) beat the Vikings (4-6) at Brunswick.
Lydia Caputi helped with seven points and eight rebounds. Dakota Foster had seven assists and Tianna Burton hit three from behind the arc for Brunswick.
GEORGES VALLEY 60, ST. DOMINIC 48: Jill Bradbury scored 19 points to lead Georges Valley (6-4) over St. Dominic (6-4) at Thomaston.
Jessica Veilleux added 16 points for the Buccaneers, who led the entire game. Kennadi Grover, the leading scorer for Georges Valley, was held to five points but contributed eight rebounds and three assists.
Alaina Murphy scored 18 points and Sarah Gosselin added 14 for the Saints.
PORTLAND 58, KENNEBUNK 31: Nyaliep Deng scored 11 of her 13 points in the first half as the Bulldogs (3-6) grabbed a 37-12 lead against Kennebunk (0-8) at Portland.
BOYS’ HOCKEY
GREELY 9, HOULTON 1: Ted Hart had a hat trick as the Rangers (7-0-1) beat the Shiretowners (9-1) at Falmouth.
Justin Murphy added two goals, and Pete Stauber had a goal and three assists for Greely.
Ben Ward scored for Houlton from Brandon Ward.
Matt Labbe stopped 19 shots for Greely.
THURSDAY’S BOYS’ BASKETBALL
PORTLAND 64, MASSABESIC 50: Peter Herrick scored 17 points to lead Portland (4-4) over Massabesic (0-8) at Waterboro.
Peter Donato added 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs, and Matt McInnis scored 13 points.
