AUGUSTA — Maine Gov.-elect Paul LePage is behind schedule in naming his cabinet.
LePage had said he would complete his cabinet before the end of 2010.
Now, two days before he’s sworn into office, LePage has named only four of his 15 department heads.
The Republican who will be sworn into office Wednesday has filled positions that include two dealing with public safety and security issues, and those overseeing state finances and state parks and public lands.
Still pending are appointments to head major departments, such as Health and Human Services, Transportation and Education.
LePage spokesman Dan Demeritt says the transition team found that some sought-after candidates to head major departments are also being considered in other states. Demeritt says LePage may announce six or seven nominations by week’s end.
