In “Weathering Shame”, the authors’ goal is to raise awareness and to inspire others to embark on their own journey of self-discovery, recovery or awareness. The week of May 1 has been deemed Maine Law Week, and during that week libraries across Maine, including the Wells Public Library, will partner with local lawyers to share information about how to access civil legal resources. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet a lawyer from the community and receive information about free and low-cost legal assistance. There will be an opportunity to have a brief consultation with an attorney at no cost. Wells Public Library is pleased to have partnered with a local lawyer, Hesper Schleiderer-Hardy. Attorney Schleiderer-Hardy works at Childs, Rundlett, Fifield & Altshuler, LLC in Portland, Maine, and lives with her family in Wells. She concentrates her practice in Family Law, Estate Planning and Probate Law, and Protection from Abuse/Harassment and Collaborative Law. She also is the Chair of the Seacoast Waldorf School Building Committee and the Treasurer of the Maine Collaborative Law Alliance. For more information, contact Kristi Bryant at kbryant@wellstown.org, or call the library at 646-8181.

Join Wells Public Library for a free opening reception at the Ethel M. Weymouth Art Gallery located in the Wells Public Library. Refreshments will be provided, and the artist will answer questions. Art, graphic design, and sewing have always been passions of Nancy Morgan. Her pieces are quilts done in the raw-edge appliqué technique using hand guided, free-motion stitching on a sewing machine. Each color represented is a separate piece of fabric layered and stitched on the quilt base. Accents are applied using thread, and shading is added using layers of black or gray tulle. This particular exhibit encompasses Morgan’s natural familiarity and love for the scenic seacoast region where she grew up. The art will remain on display for the month of May. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library. For more information, contact Sara Ottomano at sottomano@wellstown.org or call the library at 646-8181.
