I first met Laurie Dobson when she was going around York County, teaching caucus preparation workshops to officials and caucus attendees in meetings she put together in Alfred, Kittery, York and Berwick (she also helped in Wells). We know each other also from meetings and being involved in the Bernie Sanders campaign.
Laurie Dobson, who is running for state representative in District 9 (Kennebunkport and parts of Kennebunk/Biddeford), and I agree with almost everything that presidential candidate Bernie Sanders is saying.
Laurie and I are both concerned with the extreme cost of education. My partner and I are going to be OK going forward financially, but some of our children, grandchildren and great-granddaughter are not. This is why we support and have volunteered for Sanders: we are not doing it for ourselves only, but for our kids grandkids and 6-month-old granddaughter.
Laurie and I are also concerned about Hillary Clinton, and my partner has said he will have a hard time voting for her. We want a Supreme Court nominee picked by Democrats and Democrats in Congress, but we don’t like how the party is being run and the way they are rigging the election.
The party insiders are not letting die-hard Bernie backers very far into the process. Laurie said she has experienced that newcomers who aren’t part of the establishment politics are discriminated against. There is resistance to the change which we must have.
We need more outsiders in office, and Laurie is one that I support. I hope you will vote for her on June 14th in District 9. Thank you!
