From the Journal Tribune: “The city’s exploration into developing winds energy moved forward Thursday with the Energy Committee’s recommendation to purchase a small wind turbine. The SEC recommended buying a whisper 200 wind generator that will be used for measuring wind up and down the Saco River. The price of $7,300 includes a tower, anemometer, which is an instrument that measures wind speed, and 20 hours of support.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “Biddeford police are investigating a sideswipe hit and run crash on Route 1 last night. A vehicle operated by Denise A. Cote, 17, of Belmont Avenue in Biddeford, was damaged on the right side, police say. The Cote auto was proceeding south on Elm Street when another car headed in the same direction turned around and came back in the wrong lane, Miss Cote told police. No injuries were reported.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Two people were fatally injured and a third person was severely hurt wherein a five-passenger automobile was struck by a Boston & Maine passenger train at the West Scarborough crossing shortly after 1 o’clock on Monday afternoon. Stories as to how the automobile and the train managed to come together differ. They say that the drivers just did not see the train coming in time, while others say they stopped at the tracks, for reasons undiscovered.”
