SPRINGVALE — Police in Springvale say speed was a factor in a Sunday night crash that claimed the life of a 29-year-old South Berwick motorist.
Aurora Smith was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which was reported at 7:43 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Hanson’s Ridge Road and Oak Street.
Police said Smith was driving a Chevrolet 1500 pickup east on Oak Street when the truck left the roadway, flipped onto its side and collided with a tree.
Sanford Deputy Police Chief Tim Strout said the investigation determined that speed was a contributing factor.
The accident remains under investigation.
