WINSLOW – A woman was shot and killed near Marie and Beck streets Monday night. A suspect in that killing then reportedly shot and killed himself after a police pursuit along the Maine Turnpike.

Maine State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said he did not yet have the identity of the woman or the man, but the man’s vehicle was seen near the site of the shooting in Winslow.

The man’s car was found, and troopers followed it south along the Maine Turnpike through Lewiston.

The chase ended about 9:10 p.m. near the Gray exit. “He went over a spike mat and that deflated one tire,” McCausland said.

Troopers told McCausland the driver then shot and killed himself.
