Bail for Marcus Lafebvre, 28, of Waterboro was lowered from $100,000 to $10,000 cash during his arraignment in Springvale District Court on Tuesday. He was arrested Sunday afternoon after York County sheriff ’s deputies responded to a disturbance on North Road in Cornish.
According to the sheriff ’s department, Lafebvre’s former girlfriend and her new boyfriend (who have not been identified), were leaving a Cornish residence around noon Sunday when they discovered their driveway was blocked by another vehicle.
The male approached the vehicle and asked its driver – William Lafebvre, Marcus’ father – to move the car. Marcus Lafebvre then appeared and pointed a .45- caliber handgun at the man, the sheriff ’s department said. The man, who was also armed, drew his weapon and called police.
Marcus Lafebvre was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, a Class C felony, and criminal threatening, a Class D felony.
Corp. Peter Turner of the York County Jail said Tuesday it is likely the court entered a not guilty plea on Lafebvre’s behalf, given that he faces felony charges.
“Looking at the bond, there would have been a not guilty plea,” Turner said.
Lafebvre was scheduled to appear in Alfred Superior Court on Aug. 5 following his arraignment, but on Tuesday, his court date was moved to Nov. 9. He may face additional charges for violating a no-contact order.
Lafebvre had been threatening the two victims for several weeks, including via text message, and was warned to not have contact with either of them about a month ago, police said. He was also issued a “cease harassment order” around midnight the day before he was arrested, police said.
William Lafebvre, 61, has also been charged with disorderly conduct, a Class E crime, in a related incident.
Following Marcus’ arrest, the female victim went with her new boyfriend to another residence, which she co-owns with Marcus Lafebvre, to retrieve some of her belongings. William Lafebvre confronted the victims and caused a disturbance, police said.
A deputy responded and informed William Lafebvre that the woman had the right to be on the property. The elder Lafebvre became disruptive and chose to not follow the deputy’s orders, police said.
William Lafebvre was arrested, and posted a $200 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in Springvale District Court on Aug. 23.
