OLD ORCHARD BEACH — A burglar reportedly broke into a local church in Old Orchard Beach, cooked some frozen pizza and vandalized the building Memorial Day.
Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church posted on its Facebook page Tuesday morning that someone had taken advantage of a church door that was left slightly ajar and entered the 6 Fountain Ave. building.
Pastor Michael Gray said in an email that whoever entered the building cooked three frozen pizzas from the food pantry and took some ice cream. Church officials also found the door to the food pantry broken as well as some items including pictures, a vase, and an end table.
“There was nothing done that can’t be cleaned or fixed, but still disrespectful of the church and the community we serve,” stated the Facebook post.
Church officials say they will take steps to keep the building more secure going forward.
“Please pray for the person or persons involved in this unfortunate incident and – as always -for our wonderful community,” the church posted on Facebook.
Old Orchard Beach police confirmed that the alleged church burglary had been reported to them.
