ELLSWORTH — Drug agents say they’ve charged a man and a woman from Florida with drug trafficking in Maine.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency says 26-year-old John Paul Haddad and 45-year-old Kelly Berkwitz-Gutierrez, of Hollywood, Fla., were arrested in Ellsworth for trafficking in the painkiller oxycodone.
The agency says it began investigating the pair nearly six months ago and arrested them after an undercover agent bought drugs from them at an Ellsworth motel where they were staying.
Officials say they seized 332 oxycodone tablets and more than $1,700 in cash.
