AUGUSTA — Postal employees across the state will pause this weekend to join our customers in celebrating the American workforce.
More than half a million employees nationwide will take a brief rest on Monday as it prepares for the fall and holiday shipping seasons. There will be no regular delivery or collection of mail on Labor Day and our retail outlets will be closed for the day.
The postal service’s guaranteed overnight service, Priority Mail Express will be delivered on Monday and full delivery and retail operations will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 4.
For those not currently part of the workforce, or just need a change to a more fulfilling career, the U.S. Postal Service is currently looking for dedicated individuals to increase our ranks for the coming holiday season and beyond. Available jobs are listed at www.usps.com/careers
Whether you like to work outdoors, manage high tech sorting equipment, drive a truck or work at a retail counter, the Postal Service has various hours and locations available to meet your needs. What better way to celebrate Labor Day than with a new career?
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
