I am writing to endorse Diane Denk for the Maine House of Representatives for District 9 (part of Biddeford, part of Kennebunk and Kennebunkport).
Diane was raised in a blue-collar family but, with the benefit of her education, rose to the position of vice president of a major brokerage firm. Not only is she well-versed in financial matters, but, as a grandmother, she wants Maine children to have the opportunity she did to realize their full potential.
Diane made a career change 16 years ago to work as a special education teacher. She has seen the challenges facing education and our schools. Diane has been knocking on doors, and has heard the message about the negative impact of rising property taxes, particularly for seniors.
As a former city councilor, I saw firsthand how decisions made in Augusta can affect property taxpayers. Diane will fight to make sure Augusta pays its fair share rather than shifting the tax burden to our communities. I have watched Diane work; she listens to our concerns. She will promote opportunity in education, small business, housing and sustainable clean energy.
I am confident that, as our state Representative, Diane Denk will be a strong voice in Augusta.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
