BRUNSWICK – Rebecca McCarty pitched a two-hitter and Dorothy Cameron hit a two-run homer to lead Husson (21-15) to a 5-2 win over Bowdoin (20-17) in the opening game of a softball doubleheader Wednesday.
The Eagles (21-15) scored on a fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh inning for a 3-2 victory over the Polar Bears (20-17) in the second game.
MAINE 8, ST. JOSEPH’S 0: Jennifer Eberhardt drove in three runs on two hits and scored a run to help the Black Bears (17-27) down the Monks (31-8) at Standish.
UNE SWEEPS ROGER WILLIAMS: Amanda Vaudreuil had four RBI to lead the Nor’easters (25-15, 17-7 TCCC) to 3-1 and 5-2 wins over Roger Williams (17-22, 15-9) at Biddeford.
COLBY 10, THOMAS 1: Lauren Becker pitched a two-hitter as the Mules (9-16) downed the Terriers (18-13) at Waterville.
UMASS-BOSTON SWEEPS USM: Anna Allard had four hits for the Huskies (4-32, 2-10), who lost 10-2 and 8-2 against the Beacons (21-11, 5-5) at Boston.
BASEBALL
USM 16, BABSON 9: Tucker White and Nick Grady each went 4 for 5 and drove in three runs as the Huskies (17-14) scored 13 runs in the first four innings and held off the Beavers (25-12) at Babson Park, Mass.
BRANDEIS 8, BOWDOIN 7: Kenny Destremps hit a solo homer in the top of the 11th inning to lift the Judges (23-13) to a win over the Polar Bears (19-8) at Brunswick.
BATES SWEEPS ANNA MARIA: Jake Simon hit a three-run homer to cap a nine-run seventh inning as the Bobcats (15-14) rallied for an 11-6 win over the Amcats (20-17) in the opener at Worcester, Mass.
Bates completed the sweep with a 6-1 win.
COLBY 4, THOMAS 0: Brendan Gallagher and Colin Cummings each hit a sacrifice fly in a three-run first inning and the Mules (11-17) shut out the Terriers (12-24) at Waterville.
NORTHERN ESSEX 11, SOUTHERN MAINE CC 6: Scott Madden had two hits, including an RBI double, for the Seawolves (10-18) in a loss at Haverhill, Mass.
WOMEN’S LACROSSE
USM 16, PLYMOUTH STATE 10: Shelby Turcotte and Lauren Santo combined for seven of their nine goals in the second half as the visiting Huskies (7-9, 4-1 Little East) rallied past the Panthers (7-6, 2-3).
BOWDOIN 20, HUSSON 1: Cayla Liptak scored three goals and Devin Hardy and Jordan Smith added two goals and two assists apiece as the Polar Bears (12-2) cruised past the Eagles (7-7) at Brunswick.

SALVE REGINA 13, UNE 9: Chris Walker scored six times as the Seahawks (9-7, 6-4 TCCC) beat the Nor’easters (8-9, 4-6) at Newport, R.I.
USM 11, UMASS-BOSTON 4: Tim Bryant had four goals as the Huskies (5-9, 3-3 Little East) rallied past the Beacons (5-10, 0-6) at Boston.

USCAA: The U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association tournament will be held at The Ballpark in Old Orchard Beach from May 13-18.
