SANFORD — Robert D. Pratt, 77, of Sanford, died at his home on Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018 after a lengthy period of declining health.

Robert was born on Aug. 8, 1941 to Harvey and Elsie (Abbott) Pratt in Dover where he grew up and attended local schools. After school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.  When he completed his enlistment he returned to the area and went to work as a self-employed carpenter, doing home improvements.

In 1969, he married Patricia Thibeault and together they raised one daughter and shared nearly 49 years of marriage.

Robert was an outgoing man with many friends and was proud to be a friend of Bill W. in good standing for over 37 years.  He also enjoyed stamp and coin collecting.  He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and friend and will be dearly missed.

Robert was predeceased by his parents and by seven siblings, Margaret Poulin, Janet Harris, Joan Garrity, Dorothy Schmutz, Nancy Demers, Harvey Pratt, Jr. and Philip Pratt.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Pratt of Sanford; his adored daughter, Laurie Lebel and her husband Travis who was like a son to Robert, of Sanford; six siblings, Florence York of Bangor, Judy Cope of Farmington, New Hampshire, Kathy Arnold of Tennessee, Mary Pratt of Farmington, New Hampshire, Everett Pratt of Farmington, New Hampshire and Richard Pratt of Somersworth, New Hampshire; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, located at 580 Main St. in Springvale.  A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 15 at the Southern Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery located on Stanley Road in Springvale.
