SANFORD — The visiting Cheverus Stags scored three straight goals to end the first half and they would hold on for a 4-2 victory over Sanford in a girls soccer contest on Wednesday.
Emma Gallant scored twice in the first half and Riley O’Mara added a goal for Cheverus.
Lauren Jordan scored a second-half goal for the Stags, who got five saves from Neve Cawley.
Sanford was led by Abby Toothaker’s two goals and Julia Allen provided an assist.
Linda Johnson stopped 20 shots in the net for Sanford, which dropped to 5-6-1 on the season.
Sanford will visit Marshwood on Friday.
Noble 4, South Portland 3
Olivia Howard scored a pair of second-half goals to help Noble pick up the victory.
Abby Fleming also scored two goals for the Knights, who improved to 5-4-3 on the year.
South Portland would get a pair of goals from Evelyn Selser and one score from Julia Banks.
