PORTLAND — The Reading Phillies jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first three innings and went on to beat the Portland Sea Dogs 7-5 before a chilled crowd of 3,058 Friday night at Hadlock Field.

The Phillies scored twice in the second inning off starter Brock Huntzinger, then got a three-run home run from Cody Overbeck in the third. Chris Frey added a home run in the seventh to make it 7-1.

The Sea Dogs got an RBI single from Alex Hassan in the fifth, a leadoff home run from Tim Federowicz in the seventh and three runs in the ninth.
