GARDINER (AP) — A Maine man wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting in Gardiner has been arrested in Massachusetts.
Maine officials say 30-year-old Paul Coyne was charged early Friday with being a fugitive from justice. Massachusetts police also charged him with disguising his identity to obstruct justice, as well as drug charges.
Dwight Fowles, acting director of security for the Maine Department of Corrections, said the agency established a command center where probation officers and investigators learned that Coyne and his girlfriend were in Massachusetts.
Coyne, who was on probation in Maine, has a lengthy criminal record and was arrested by Massachusetts State Police’s violent fugitive unit.
The victim of the shooting early Thursday is expected to recover from a leg injury.
