PITTSFIELD, N.H. (AP) — The CEO of a New Hampshire pizza-making business that was destroyed in a fire says workers on the company payroll will be paid as the business works to relocate.
The fire leveled the 16,000-square-foot Rustic Crust production facility in Pittsfield last week. No one was hurt, but CEO Brad Sterl said the building is a total loss. About 100 people work at the business.
Sterl said Monday he also is investigating options to help support contract employees, beyond unemployment assistance available through the state of New Hampshire.
“I want to reassure them that we’re not walking away from this,” he said a few hours meeting with employees in Concord. “We’ve made a lot of progress in a few short days, and we’re working non-stop to chart our future course.”
Workers will be asked to come in to the offices and warehouse to perform some job duties that may include inventory and maintenance, as needed. Training sessions, procedures reviews and other assignments also will be included.
Rustic Crust, founded in 1996, makes ready-made organic pizza crusts and all-natural American Flatbread pizzas.
