SANFORD — Lo-o-o-o-ve chocolate? Organizers of the Chocolate Benefit Spectacular, to benefit the Sanford Backpack Program say those who attend the event Feb. 11 at Nasson Community Center will be amply rewarded with a number of chocolate treats to tantalize the tastebuds.

The fundraising event, available only through reserved seating this year, brings in about half of the Sanford Backpack Program’s annual $40,000 budget, according to organizers. A ticket supplies a child with at least two food-filled backpacks so they have access to food over the weekend, when they can’t rely on school meals. Sanford Backpack Program distributes about 200 backpacks to students throughout the school system every Friday.

As well as chocolate, there’s live music from the Wintry Mix Band, raffles, a cash bar, and more.

The event is 7-10 p.m. Feb. 11. Tickets are $25, though tables of eight people pay $20 per ticket. Folks may reserve a seat — or a table —  online through a link from the Chocolate Spectacular Facebook page, or call 558-2470.

Organizers say they expect to sell out the 300 tickets available.
