PORTLAND — The Maine Irish Heritage Center and the Irish American Club of Maine will sponsor several events in honor of St. Patrick’s Day.

”¢ On Saturday, March 15, the Irish American Club’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Irish center, 34 Gray St., Portland. The evening includes dinner, music from Sligo Road and a performance by the Stillson School of Irish Dance. For tickets, contact club2@irishofmaine.org or call Meg Weidman at 508-723-2043.

”¢ The St. Patrick’s Day Parade will begin at noon Sunday, March 16 at the Portland fish pier on the corner of Commercial and Center streets, proceeds east on Commercial Street and ends at the Maine State Pier. Participants will gather at the fish pier at 11 a.m. The St. Patrick’s Day celebration will continue at the Irish center with music and dancing from 1-5 p.m. The event is free; food and drink will be available for purchase. ”¢ The Irish flag-raising over Portland at Harbor View Memorial Park on St. Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17 will be at 8:30 a.m. Meet on the front steps of the Maine Irish Heritage Center and walk through old Irish neighborhoods to the park, where the Irish flag will be raised. Coffee, tea and Irish soda bread will be served from 9 a.m. to noon at the MIHC. For more information, email irishhc@maine.rr.com or call 780-0118.
