OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Police have identified the man who died when he was struck by a train earlier this month.
James King was pronounced dead at the scene the afternoon March 11 after public safety officials responded to a report of a pedestrian and train collision, at the intersection of the train tracks and Union Avenue.
Police talked to several witnesses, and King was said to have walked onto the tracks as the southbound Amtrak Downeaster approached. Police said the incident appeared to be a suicide.
According to his obituary, King, 43, was a resident of Biddeford and had been employed as a chef over the years at various local eating establishments and the University of New England food services.
