BRUNSWICK — Artists are being sought statewide to take part in the 10×10 Benefit Art Exhibit & Sale for Arts Are Elementary on Friday, Sept. 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Curtis Memorial Library and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Brunswick.
The application deadline is June 1. Arts Are Elementary is a local nonprofit program founded in 1980 that brings visual artists, writers and performers into the Brunswick elementary schools. Each year, the 10×10 Benefit represents approximately 150 Maine artists who create 1-2 original works of art in any medium, all with a finished size of 10”x10”. Each piece is ready to hang and priced at $200. If sold, the artist and Arts Are Elementary each receive $100.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
