Good Shepherd Parish, encompassing the Catholic churches of Biddeford, Saco, Old Orchard Beach and Lyman, announces a change in Mass times, effective May 23. On Saturday, Mass will be offered at 4 p.m. at Most Holy Trinity in Saco, St. Joseph in Biddeford and St. Margaret in Old Orchard Beach. Mass will be at 4:30 p.m. at St. Philip in Lyman and at 5:30 p.m. at St. Brendan in Biddeford Pool. On Sunday, Mass will be at 8 a.m. at St. Joseph in Biddeford, in French; at 8:30 a.m. at St. Margaret in Old Orchard Beach and at Most Holy Trinity in Saco; at 9 a.m. at St. Philip in Lyman; at 10:30 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity in Saco and St. Margaret in Old Orchard Beach; and at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph in Biddeford. As of June 28, a 9:30 a.m. Mass will be added on Sundays at St. Brendan in Biddeford Pool.

Toilers-By-The-Sea will host its 112th annual worship service in Porter Hall at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 25 with worship leader Rev. Howard Krueger, retired American Baptist minister and resident of Ocean Park. Jerry Scheinfeldt will provide music, joined by Suzanne Morin, fourth-generation member of Ocean Park and resident of Scarborough. All are invited to join in this traditional opening worship.

Organist Mark Thallander is scheduled to perform musical pieces during Sunday morning worship services at several area churches this summer and fall: Cape Neddick Baptist Church, 34 River Road, Cape Neddick, Sundays, June 15 and July 6, 10:15 a.m.; The Church on the Cape, 3 Langsford Road, Cape Porpoise, June 22, 10 a.m.; First Parish Church, 180 York St., York, Sunday, Aug. 31, 9:30 a.m.; Ogunquit Baptist Church, 157 Shore Road, Ogunquit, Sunday, Aug. 31, 7 p.m.; Trinity Church, 546 York St., York Harbor, Sunday, Sept. 7, 7:30 p.m.; and Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, 122 Ash St., Lewiston, Sunday, Oct. 5, 6 p.m. Additionally, a Dedication Recital of the Organ Trumpet Stops will take place at the Ogunquit Baptist Church on Sunday, Aug. 3, 7 p.m.

Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kennebunk currently offers services on Sundays at 8:15 a.m. (modern) and at 10:45 a.m. (traditional). Beginning on June 15 and continuing through the end of July, service times will be at 8:15 a.m. and at 9:45 a.m. On June 8, there will be a single service at 10 a.m., after which lunch will be served. In addition to services, the church hosts bean suppers on the first Saturday evening of the month, from 4-6 p.m., which is open to the community at no charge. On the second Monday of the month, a friendship luncheon is offered to the community at 11:30 a.m., at no charge. All are welcome to attend. The church’s community yard sale will be held on June 14, beginning at 8 a.m.

“Christian Mindfulness: And Living in the Present Moment,” a one-day retreat, will be offered at Marie Joseph Spiritual Center in Biddeford Pool on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Participants should bring their own Bible.  A service of comfort, healing and hope will be offered at First Parish Congregational Church, corner of Beach and Main streets in Saco, on Wednesday, May 28 at 7 p.m. Participants will share word and silence, light candles and seek comfort. All are welcome to this half-hour service. 

The Daughters of Isabella, a Catholic women’s group, will host its May social on Wednesday, May 28 at Most Holy Trinity hall in Saco at 6 p.m. Tickets will be on sale for the June 22 banquet.

The Ocean Park Religious Society will host a worship service at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 1 in Porter Hall, which will mark the first 2014 service of the religious society. The sermon will focus on “Heart Melody,” based on Eph. 5:15-21, and led by Rev. Charles Schotzberger, retired Methodist minister and resident of Ocean Park.  Jonathan Prak, USM piano major and resident of Saco, will be the music accompanist and Sandra Lewis, cantor at St. Margaret’s Church and resident of Old Orchard Beach, will also provide music. The society’s second service will be at 10:30 a.m. on June 8. All are invited to join in the 125th anniversary of the Ocean Park Religious Society.
