BIDDEFORD — On May 6, a group of students from The Alternative Pathways Classroom, Youth Build and Biddeford High School got together to clean up their neighborhood.
Biddeford High School student Elias Fletcher said, along with his classmates, they have spent their lives in the Bacon Street area of Biddeford, and decided they would like to change their image and the image of the community as well.
They have meet bi-weekly for the past two months with representation from the Community Partnership for Protecting Children, he said. During these meetings, they have addressed some of their concerns for the community and brainstormed ways to make it better, not only for themselves, but also for the younger children living there.
The cleanup effort was just the first idea the group has come up with and they plan to do more in the future, said Fletcher.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
