ACTON — A local suspect was arrested and charged with drunk driving and violating conditions of release following a crash on H Road on Thursday evening.
Benjamin Moreau, 22, was seen walking on H Road by a sheriff’s deputy who had first checked a Jeep Cherokee overturned in the woods to make sure there was no one inside.
This morning, York County Sheriff William King said that Moreau told Deputy Levi Johnson that he had just crashed his vehicle because of excessive speed and was suffering from neck and back pain.
Moreau was examined by Acton Fire and Rescue and it was determined there were no injuries that required further medical attention.
King said Johnson also found that Moreau was on bail conditions that prohibited the use of any alcoholic beverages due to a previous arrest for driving under the influence.
Based on that examination and Johnson’s observations during a field sobriety test, Moreau was arrested.
He was released from York County Jail on $300 cash bail and is scheduled to appear at Springvale District Court June 17.
