OLD ORCHARD BEACH — Donald (Don) Nolette, 86, of Old Orchard Beach, and formerly of Hollis, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Maine Veteran’s Home in Scarborough.

He was born in Hamnord, Canada, on Dec. 15, 1930, a son of Ernest and Elise (Lizotte) Nolette. At an early age, the family moved to Biddeford where he attended Biddeford schools and St. Louis High School. 

Don was employed by Westpoint Stevens for 40 years. He was an advocate for the labor union, local 305, serving as an officer, president and vice president for many years.

His hobbies included bowling, winning the title twin city champion in the 1960s, amd horse and harness racing. He also was an avid New England sports fan, following the Patriots and Red Soxs very closely. He enjoyed traveling and wintering in Florida with his wife Dolly.

Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandson Stephen.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, Conrad, Leo, Roger and Bruno.

He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Dolores “Dolly” (Gagnon) Nolette; his son, Ronald Nolette and his fiancée, Catherine: his grandson, Stephen Nolette; one sister, Yvette St. Onge; two brothers, Rlaph Nolette, and Maurice Nolette; and several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2017, at Cote Funeral Home Chapel, 87 James S., Saco. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at Most Holy Trinity Church, Saco. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Biddeford.
