YORK COUNTY — Next Sunday is Easter, when friends and families will gather in worship, good faith, good fun and with good food.

A number of churches, parishes and community centers will be holding Easter and Holy Week-themed events across York County this week. A list of worship services and Easter events is included below.

Biddeford:

  • GracePoint Church, 50 Adams St.

There will be an Easter Carnival from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and two Easter Sunday morning services at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

  • St. Joseph Church, 178 Elm St.

There will be a Holy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday, a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Friday, and an Easter Vigil at 7:45 p.m. Saturday. Easter Sunday Masses will be held at 8 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday.

  • Seeds of Hope, 35 South St.

There will be a Maundy Thursday service at 10 a.m. Thursday, a Good Friday service at 10 a.m. Friday and a 10 a.m. Easter Sunday service. 

Saco:

  • First Parish Congregational Church, 12 Beach St.

There will be a sunrise service at 6 a.m. Easter Sunday at Ocean Park Beach at Temple Street. Following the sunrise service will be a Youth fellowship Easter Egg Hunt at 9:15 a.m., followed by a 10 a.m. Celebration of the Resurrection.

  • Most Holy Trinity Church, 271 Main St. 

There will be an Easter Vigil at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday, and Masses at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday.

  • Trinity Episcopal Church, 403 Main St.

There will be services on Easter Sunday at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.

  • Unitarian Universalist Church of Saco & Biddeford, 60 School St.

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Saco & Biddeford will host an Easter potluck breakfast on Easter Sunday at 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall. There is a signup list on the hall’s bulletin board. Following the breakfast will be an Easter Sunday service at 10 a.m.

  • United Baptist Church, 318 Main St.

The United Baptist Church will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday and a Good Friday service at noon on Friday. On Saturday, the church will hold an Easter party for children at 10 a.m. On Easter Sunday, a sunrise service will take place at 6 a.m., followed by 10 a.m. worship service.

  • St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Bradley St.

St. Demetrios will host services each day during Holy Week, beginning Monday with 
a Holy Monday Bridegroom Orthros at 6:30 p.m. at the Biddeford-Serbian/Old Church on Adams Street in Biddeford. On Tuesday is a Presanctified Liturgy at 8:30 a.m., followed by a Bridegroom Orthros starting by 6:30 p.m. at the Cemetery Chapel in Biddeford.

On Wednesday, the church will hold a Presanctified Liturgy at 7:30 a.m., followed by Holy Oil services at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. On Thursday, the church will hold a Vesperal Liturgy, a Mystical Supper, at 6 a.m. and an Orthros of the Crucifixion starting from 6:30 to 9 p.m. 

Great Hours start at 9 a.m. on Friday, Vespers of the Entombment at 3 p.m. and Orthros of the Lamentation at 6:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Holy Sabbath, is Vesperal Liturgy, Sepulcher, starting at 10 a.m. An Orthros and Liturgy of the Resurrection will occur from 11:20 p.m. to 1:45 a.m., from Saturday into Sunday morning.

On Easter Sunday, April 16, Vespers of Agapi will take place from 11 to 11:45 a.m.

Old Orchard Beach:

  • The Salvation Army, 2 Church St.

There will be a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Friday. An Easter morning sunrise service will be held at the Temple Avenue entrance on Sunday at 6 a.m., featuring a brass ensemble, hymn singing and a gospel message. Later in the day is a Resurrection Sunday workshop at 10:30 a.m., led by majors Bryan and Beverly Smith.

  • Old Orchard Beach United Methodist Church, 6 Fountain Ave.

The Methodist Church will host a Maundy Thursday service at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, a Good Friday service at the same time Friday, an Easter sunrise service at 5:45 a.m. Sunday and a 10 a.m. Easter Sunday service. On Easter Sunday, the church will welcome new members.

  • St. Margaret Parish, 6 Saco Ave.

There will be Easter Masses held at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Lyman:

  • St. Philip Church, 404 Goodwins Mills Road

There will be Easter Masses held at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Sunday.

Waterboro:

  • Community Easter Egg Hunt, Waterboro Elementary School

A Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday at the Waterboro Elementary School, 340 Sokokis Trail, East Waterboro. The hunt will begin at 10 a.m., and all children under age 10 are encouraged to hunt for eggs.

  • Lakeside Community Church, 1248 Sokokis Trail, North Waterboro

Lakeside will host Easter Sunday services, one at 8 a.m. and another at 10 a.m. 

Sanford:

  • Curtis Lake Christian Church, 38 Westview Drive

Curtis Lake Church will host three services on Easter Sunday morning — at 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. — and a fourth on Monday, April 17, at 6:15 p.m. Each service will be identical and last about an hour. 

The church will have programming for children up through sixth grade, including a special “Eggstravaganza” party for children in kindergarten through fourth grade. Dress casual, bring your coffee and be ready to enjoy church.

  • St. George Episcopal Church, 1 Emerson St.

St. George Episcopal Church will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday, and Good Friday services at noon and 7 p.m. on Friday. On Easter Sunday, the church will hold services at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., with an Easter egg hunt following the 10 a.m. service.

       • St. Thèrése of Liseux Parish

On Holy Thursday, there will be a Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 p.m. at Notre Dame Church in Springvale. On Good Friday, the sixth and seventh graders of St. Thomas School will be leading the Living Stations of the Cross on  at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 66 North Ave. At  7 p.m., Friday, the Passion of the Lord service is at Notre Dame. Easter Vigil Mass, 8 p.m., Saturday at Holy Family Church. Easter Sunday, there is a 7:30 a.m. Mass at Notre dame, followed by 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Masses at Holy Family.

     • Sanford Unitarian Universalist Church, 5 Lebanon St.

The Sanford Unitarian Universalist Church will hold a worship service at 10:30 a.m., and the church choir will sing.

  • Crossroads United Methodist Church, 18 Grammar Road

All are welcome to a Good Friday service on Friday at 7 p.m. and to a sunrise Easter Sunday service at 5:45 a.m., followed by a breakfast. There is also an Easter Sunday service at 8:45 a.m.

Kennebunkport:

  • Village Baptist Church, 6 Maine St.

The Village Baptist Church will host a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. Friday and an Easter Sunday sunrise service beginning at 5:55 a.m. at Blowing Cave, with breakfast to follow. There will be a regular worship service at 10:30 a.m. 

  • First Congregational Church, 141 North St.

There will be a Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m. Thursday.

  • The Church on the Cape, 3 Langsford Road, Cape Porpoise

The church will be open each day during Holy Week from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for personal
prayer and meditation. Each day there will be scriptures and a devotional available for
your use.

Kennebunk:

  • Sea Road Christian Church, 140 Sea Road

Sea Road Church will host a sunrise service on Easter Sunday at Mother’s Beach on Beach Avenue from 5:45 to 6:15 a.m. There will be a regular Easter worship service in the Sea Road Church sanctuary at 9:30 a.m.

  • Christ Church, 6 Dane St.

There will be a Maundy Thursday Healing and Holy Communion Service at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Wells:

  • Wells Congregational Church, 1695 Post Rd

There will be a sunrise service Easter Sunday at 5:45 a.m. at Wells Harbor, followed by a Sunday worship service at the church at 9:30 a.m.
