PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — Jake Osborne drove in three runs, sparking the Old Orchard Beach Raging Tide (18-28) to a 9-5 victory over the Seacoast Mavericks (21-25) on Thursday at Leary Field.
Osborne homered in the third inning and singled in the ninth inning. Paul McDonough and Rahiem Cooper also homered for the Tide, which has won five consecutive games to pull within three games of Seacoast for a playoff spot.
Dakota Higdon had two extra base hits for the Mavericks. He singled in the fifth inning and doubled in the third and seventh inning.
Tim Holmes got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered seven hits. Will Ore and Dakota Edwards combined to allow two runs on four hits over three innings in relief. Ben Greenberg finished off the game with a prefect ninth.
Joshua Jacques ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, as he was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
