HAMPDEN — The Gifts of Music presents a free improvisation clinic and benefit concert featuring renowned jazz clarinetist Brad Terry, guitarist Peter Herman and the Hampden Academy Jazz Combo.

The improvisation clinic is set for Wednesday, Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. at Hampden Academy, and is free to all Maine middle and high school students with a suggested donation of $10 for any adult musician who wishes to attend.

Those who want to attend the clinic just need to RSVP The Gifts of Music by sending an email to info@thegiftsofmusic.org.

The clinic will be followed by a benefit concert at the Hampden Academy Performing Arts Center that evening starting at 7 p.m. The admission is a suggested donation of $5 for students and seniors and $10 for adults. The performance will feature the Hampden Academy Jazz Combo, Terry and Herman, and some of the students who participated in the afternoon improvisation clinic.
