Sanford City Councilors took the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Wednesday at Goodall Park. They’d been nominated last week by Sanford Police. Seated in front are Councilor Diane Connolly, Deputy Mayor Maura Herlihy and Mayor Tom Cote. The councilors in the second row, who can’t be seen because of the volume of water and ice raining down, are Alan Wash, Joe Hanslip and Fred Smith. Councilor Richard Wilkins had the honor of turning the switch that controlled the bucket of the front-end loader, drenching his fellow councilors. Councilors made individual donations to ALS Association, and they in turn challenged City Manager Steve Buck, his assistant Sherry Lord and the Sanford School Committee to take the challenge.
