WEST KENNEBUNK — The renowned group Le Bruit Court Dans la Ville (“The Buzz around Town”) will bring the dynamic and spirited sounds of Quebecois traditional music to West Kennebunk on May 14 as part of the “Concerts in West K!” series.

The concert takes place at 3 p.m. in the West Kennebunk United Methodist Church at 160 Alfred Road in West Kennebunk.

Band members Lisa Ornstein (fiddle), Normand Miron (button accordion and vocals), and André Marchand (guitar and vocals) are legends of Quebec’s traditional music scene. Between the three of them they have been on the roster of virtually every ground-breaking Quebecois band over the past 30 years.

Lisa and André first met as members of La Bottine Souriante, the iconic trad super group that kickstarted Quebec’s folk music revival. Normand and André have been bandmates in a number of groups, including the a capella trad band Les Charbonniers de l’enfer (The Coalmen from Hell).

Lisa, André and Normand have been playing as a trio since the 1990s. Le Bruit Court Dans La Ville’s music is deeply-rooted and spontaneous, offering fresh takes on centuries-old heritage, served up with a side of new, original music.

When these three master musicians and very good friends play la musique du Québec, the stage becomes a kitchen party, infused with their love of the music and their joy in playing.

Because May 14 is Mother’s Day, the first 24 mothers or grandmothers who attend will be given a complimentary flower.

The “Concerts in West K!” series is sponsored by, and produced for the benefit of, the West Kennebunk United Methodist Church.

Admission is by donation at the door, suggested at $15 for adults and $10 for youth and seniors, with a maximum of $35 for parents with children.
