Those “activists” protesting the Maine bear hunting methods are not Mainers. There is very little support in Maine for this sort of anti-hunting foolishness. At the York County Fish and Game Association, a few months back, we had a presentation from state game officials who related that their methods have increased the number of bears significantly while ensuring that they are not a nuisance.
They also related that this anti-bear trapping organization was almost completely the work of out-of-state people who had the financial backing of very rich, extreme, liberal organizations.
Make no mistake. Their goal is anti-hunting. They are merely taking little bites at a time because they know that if their agenda was known, they would be blocked.
This also reminds me of the basic premise of different political viewpoints. If a conservative doesn’t like hunting, he doesn’t go hunting. If a liberal doesn’t like hunting, he does his level best to make sure other people do not hunt.
Once again, read the little book by Father Salvany, “Liberalism is a Sin.”
