SACO — The Scarborough softball team picked up a big win over hosting Thornton Academy on Friday.

Despite the loss, a handful of Trojans had solid outings.

Olivia Howe led the Trojans at the plate by going 2-for-4 with four RBIs while Jenica Botting went 1-for-4 with an RBI.

Kaitlin Verreault took the loss in the circle for TA, going two innings and allowing five runs while collecting two strikeouts. Howe pitched three innings in relief and allowed eight runs while picking up a strikeout. Louisa Colucci pitched the finals two innings and allowed five runs while earning a strikeout.

Noble 6, Cheverus 1

The Knights continued to impress this year with a 6-1 win over hosting Cheverus on a rainy Monday afternoon match.

Raegan Kelly got the win in the circle for Noble, going the distance and racking up eight strikeouts and allowing just three hits.

Kelsey Lessard had two hits at the plate including a triple, while Lauren Sanger added a double along with Marissa Cipola who also doubled.

Girls Tennis

Gorham 5, Massabesic 0

The Gorham girls tennis team swept Massabesic 5-0 on Friday afternoon.

Gorham’s Jocelyn Bolt topped Thyme Whitten 6-0, 6-3 while Whitney King beat Joanna LaFrance 6-4, 6-0. Jenna Cowan later topped Ivorie Dickinson 6-0, 6-0.

Gorham doubles pair Avery Arena and Delaney Burns won 6-1, 6-3 over Katie Dupuis and Lylliana Pelletier. Saoirse Herlihy and Molly Sposato later topped Ashleigh Miller and Sarah Doyle 6-2, 6-2.
