NAPLES — Biddeford took control early to sweep Lake Region 25-22, 25-12, 25-21 in a Class A volleyball game on Tuesday night.
Kendra Cote had 15 kills and five blocks for the Tigers (8-5), who also got five kills from Hayley Lefebvre and 20 assists from setter Megan Friel.
Scarborough 3, Thornton Academy 0
SACO — Scarborough never trailed in any set on the way to a 25-16, 25-14, 25-14 sweep of Thornton Academy in a Class A volleyball game on Tuesday night at Linnell Gymnasium.
Ashley Howe and Kylee Austin combined for nine kills and Julia Chasse added 10 assists for Thornton (5-8). Mina Puig had five kills and Emma Tirrell added 12 assists for Scarborough (10-3).

Thornton Academy 7, McAuley 0
PORTLAND — Ashley Boulevard scored a pair of goals as Thornton Academy cruised past McAuley in an SMAA field hockey game on Tuesday.
After Boulevard’s opener 7:01 in off an assist by Grace Pickering, Alicyn Romprey, Isabella Robinson and Boulevard scored on rebounds as the Golden Trojans (11-3) took a 4-0 lead into the half.
Taylor Ouellette, Libby Pomerleau and Pickering added second-half goals. Samantha Wikowski recorded 26 saves for the Lions (0-14).
Gorham 3, Sanford 1
GORHAM — Regan Emerson scored off a pass from Charlotte Smith with 12 minutes remaining to break a 1-1 tie as Gorham defeated Sanford in an SMAA field hockey game on Tuesday night.
Mary Adams had put the Rams (13-1) into the lead, but the Spartans (10-4) got it back with a goal by Morgan Champagne.
Smith added an insurance goal late in the second half for Gorham, which got one save from Megan Baker. Sarah Goldthwaite made 11 saves for Sanford.
Windham 2, Biddeford 1
WINDHAM — Matti Marcello scored the game winner with two minutes left in the first overtime to lift Windham to a win over Biddeford in an SMAA field hockey game on Tuesday.
Abbie Paquette had put the Tigers on the board first with an unassisted goal in the first half, but Marcello answered with six minutes left to send the game into overtime.

Wells 4, Traip Academy 0
WELLS — Wells got goals from Liam Belle, Alec Pinette, Hatim Sharaf and Hunter McDonnell to beat Traip Academy in a Western Maine Conference boys soccer game on Tuesday night at Forbes Field.
Nick Wuerthener and Belle added assists. Chandler Bridge made three saves for the Warriors (4-6-2), while Traip (1-9-2) goalie Sam Emerson made 12 saves.
South Portland 3, Sanford 1
SANFORD — Tristan Campbell, Kervens Anthoine and Khalid Suja scored as South Portland (7-3-2) beat Sanford (2-10) in an SMAA boys soccer game on Tuesday night at Cobb Stadium. Sanford’s goal was scored by Conner McGehee, assisted by Josh Webber.
Bonny Eagle 5, Massabesic 0
WATERBORO — Bonny Eagle scored five-straight second-half goals to beat Massabesic in an SMAA boys soccer game on Tuesday night. Dawson Renaud had given the Mustangs (0-12) a 1-0 lead just 3:08 into the first half, but Chan Choi, Nick Bean, Ryan moody, Maccoy Freeman and Michele Rovaris answered for the Scots (4-5-3) after halftime.
Justin Crowley made nine saves for the Mustangs, while Jeff Martin had six stops for the Scots.
