CORNISH — Police said a white man in his 20s, who was brandishing a handgun, robbed a Subway sandwich shop at about 8 p.m. Thursday.
The strong-arm robbery is the second in a week in rural York County. The first, last Friday, happened 40 miles away, in coastal Arundel, when a masked, armed robber held up a Big Apple convenience store.
Thursday’s robbery, at the Subway shop in the Cornish Shopping Center on Route 25, took place at about 8 p.m. The man was armed with a black handgun. The clerk emptied the cash register and the robber left.
York County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bill King said deputies and Maine State Police troopers scoured the area, but didn’t find the suspect. The investigation is continuing.
