OLD ORCHARD BEACH — The town’s community garden has been approved for another two years.

The community garden is located on town land on the far side of The Ballpark property, behind the parking lot. It is governed by a town board, with oversight from the town council.

The town council unanimously voted Tuesday night to extend its approval through the end of 2016.

Those who want to use the garden rent 10-by-10-foot lots.

The garden has grown since its inception in 2011. Community Garden Committee member Lynn Selden said the garden has about 50 plots, and nearly all of them were full last summer. There is also room to expand if necessary in the future, he said.

Assistant Town Manager V. Louise Reid said she has neighbors who use the community garden, and she congratulated the committee for its good work.
