CAMBRIDGE, Mass — Freshman Kevin Little had a week in which he averaged 19 points and helped the Black Bears snap a three-game losing streak and because of his efforts the America East Conference has named him the Rookie of the Week.
Little has been on quite a streak since conference play opened on Jan. 3, as he has been consistently the top point producer for the Black Bears. Since his 12-point performance against Albany, Little has recorded double-figure points in seven of nine contests and is on a six-game double-digit scoring streak.
In that span, Little is averaging 14.6 points per game and has reached 20-plus points in three contests ”“ including his 21-point performance against Binghamton last Saturday afternoon.
Little started off last week with a 17-point effort against Vermont, one of the stingiest defenses in the league, to pace the Black Bear effort. Little then impressed the home crowd, pouring in 21 points ”“ including a late 3-pointer that helped seal the victory with 40 seconds remaining in the contest against Binghamton.
The Wyandanch, New York, native has raced up the Maine statbook, as he is now leading the team with an 11.8 points per game mark.
