The Southwestern Maine Activities Association recently released its boys basketball All-Conference team, and Thornton Academy senior forward Kevin Barrett was one of five players named to the conference’s first team.
Barrett joined Bonny Eagle’s Ben Malloy, Scarborough’s Milani Hicks, Marshwood’s Drew Bartlett and Deering’s Ben Williams on the first team.
It’s the second year in a row that Barrett has been named an All Conference performer, after being named to the third team last season.
Barrett’s teammate Ben Lambert, along with Biddeford’s Patrick Pearl and Massabesic’s Dan Amabile, were honorable mentions to the All Conference team.
Barrett, teammate Conor Purvis and Massabesic’s Jesse Hall were all named to the All Academic team.
Biddeford received the Sportsmanship award.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
