LIMINGTON — A three-minute chase by a sheriff’s deputy pursuing a vehicle ended with the suspect’s truck leaving the road and getting stuck in the mud.
York County Sheriff William “Bill” King said Stoy Daye, 47, of Baldwin got out of his truck and ran away into a beaver bog, attempting to elude capture, to no avail. He was apprehended and checked by rescue workers and then taken to York County Jail.
The incident took place Tuesday night, when Sgt. Steve Thistlewood attempted to stop a 2000 Ford Explorer with a loud exhaust. King said the vehicle took off, with Thistlewood in pursuit.
“After a three minute ”˜chase,’ the vehicle intentionally left the road in an attempt to elude the deputy,” King said in a prepared statement.
Daye is held on charges of operating after suspension, failure to stop for a police officer and illegal attachment of registration plates and was held on $450 cash bail.
