YORK COUNTY — Bob Mills, who had registered in June his intent to be a candidate for the Democratic nomination for York County Registry of Deeds, said on Thursday night that he has withdrawn.
Mills, a former Biddeford city councilor, said he withdrew from the June 12 primary race earlier in the day, citing a new career path that he said would leave little time for a political career as well.
Mills has thrown his support to fellow Democrat Rachel Sherman, who filed her intent to run with the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices on Aug. 23.
So far, no Republicans have signaled their intent to seek their party’s nomination for the four year term.
The current longtime register, Deb Anderson, is retiring at the expiration of her term on Dec. 31, 2018.
Candidates for Governor, the Legislature, and county offices must register and file campaign finance reports with the Ethics Commission. Candidates should appoint a treasurer and register with the Commission before raising or spending any funds, the commission advises.
