
Wherever you’re headed, folks leaving Maine through the York tolls on the Maine Turnpike on Monday will be thanked for being here by Miles the Moose and rewarded with a bottle of Poland Spring water and some Coastal Maine Popcorn.
Traffic is expected to be heavy all weekend, with 272,000 vehicles expected today. Maine Turnpike Authority spokeswoman Erin Courtney said today’s traffic will be heaviest between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
On Monday between noon and 7 p.m., about 246,000 vehicles are expected to travel on the turnpike, with the heaviest traffic in the southbound lanes.
Miles the Moose and Clawdette the Lobster will be joined by Eco, Poland Spring’s recycling mascot to thank folks as they head home.
Through the end of July, has had 1.18 million more vehicle transactions than the same period of 2016, said Courtney.
More than 1.15 million vehicles are expected to travel the Maine Turnpike over the Labor Day weekend.
