LIMERICK — Two suspects have been arrested in Montana in connection with the May 13 armed robbery of Limerick Village Variety.
The pair, Connor McGlone, 22, of Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, and Puamae’ole “Pua” Degrandis, 20, of Cape Elizabeth, were taken into custody on Tuesday following a traffic stop on Interstate 90 near Missoula.
The two are being held at Sanders County Jail in Thompson Falls, Montana, and are awaiting extradition to Maine, according to York County Sheriff William L. King Jr.
York County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Maine State Police have been following up on dozens of leads, said King, after a man walked into the store, located at 32 Main St. in Limerick, at about 9:20 a.m. on Monday, May 13, displayed a handgun and demanded money.
King said the man ran away after receiving an unknown amount of cash.
No one was injured in the robbery.
On Thursday morning, King said a number of leads led investigators to identify McGlone and Degrandis as possible suspects — including that Degrandis had left her Cape Elizabeth home and allegedly taken her grandmother’s car without permission.
The Sheriff’s Office obtained an arrest warrant, charging McGlone with Class A felony robbery and Degrandis as an accomplice.
The two, in Degrandis’ grandmother’s car, were taken into custody about 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday without incident by the Montana Highway Patrol Interdiction Team.
“It was good work,” said King.
King praised the diligence of all involved and took particular note of the work of Detectives Josh Morneau and Corey Sweatt, Sgt. Michael Hayes and School Resource Officer Jason Solomon along with officers from the Cape Elizabeth Police Department and Maine State Police.
According to the Wakefield, New Hampshire, Police Department, McGlone turned himself into authorities there on Sept. 1, 2016, in connection with the armed robbery of an unnamed Wakefield business the previous day. Records from Carroll County (New Hampshire) Superior Court show McGlone pleaded guilty to robbery in connection with that incident on Jan. 23, 2017. He was sentenced to serve up to 12 months in Carroll County Jail and ordered to serve two years probation.
