According to Biddeford Police Deputy Chief JoAnne Fisk, officers were called at an accident about 2:10 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Elm Street and Center Street in Biddfeord.
“We need the public’s assistance in locating the vehicle and operator,” Fisk said.
In the accident, a 63-year-old Biddeford man was crossing the street when a white vehicle traveling southbound on Elm Street struck him, Fisk said.
“The operator of the vehicle, a female, got out of her vehicle asked if the pedestrian was all right and then left the scene,” she said.
There is no additional information about the vehicle or its operator, Fisk said.
The pedestrian was taken to Southern Maine Health Care in Biddfeord and sustained minor injuries.
Fisk said that anyone with any information about the accident should call the Biddeford Police Department at 282-5127.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
