SANFORD — A man who allegedly grabbed a wallet from a another man who was walking along a Sanford city street Monday afternoon was apprehended and taken to the York County Jail in Alfred.
Deputy Police Chief Tim Strout said the victim told police that he was walking in the area of Spruce and High streets with his wallet and keys in his hand when a man came by and grabbed both items and took off.
The wallet contained about $5 in cash and several credit cards.
The victim provided a description of the suspect who was located by police on the Winter Street Bridge, said Strout.
He said the suspect was identified as Justin Robert Richardson, 28, a transient.
Richardson was arrested, charged with robbery, and taken to the York County Jail without incident, Strout said.
