Biddeford Fire Capt. Peter Anton said that firefghters were called to a residence at 1 Dale Circle off Graham Street just after 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning for a report of a fire there.
Arriving at the scene, fire crews were able to extinguish the fire quckly and contained it to a second-floor bedroom of the house, which is situated in a wooded area.
“A second-floor bedroom had significant damage,” Anton said. “Much of it was from heat and smoke and some of the first floor had water damage. “
Anton said that a breezeway and attached garage near the bedroom did not suffer damage from the fire.
Family members were at home when the fire broke out, but they were not injured, Anton said.
Biddeford Assistant Fire Chief Paul R. LaBrecque said that investigators have determined the fire was accidental.
LaBrecque said that the family living there was staying with relatives until an electrician could inspect the home and make sure it is safe for them to return.
Assisting Biddeford fire crews at the scene were firefighters from Saco, Old Orchard Beach, Goodwins Mills Fire and Rescue, and Arundel.
